Welcome Message
A heartfelt welcome to Nepal! Presumably this is a dream come true. To be here in Nepal among the mountains, the people… and now the children.
Thank you for giving your time as a volunteer to help effect change and help those in need. We recognize how valuable your time is, and how important it is to you to be happy and fulfilled in the volunteer work that you perform.
Explanation of Handbook
This handbook has been produced to help acquaint you with volunteering. This book will share with you a little of our history, philosophy, practices, and policies.
No volunteer handbook can answer all the questions you might have about a program however we hope that this handbook will give you a look into Volnepal and what we have to offer you the volunteer.
It is in our interview that we can better get to know each other, express our views, and work together in a harmonious relationship.
We depend on you - your success is our success. Please don't hesitate to ask questions. Your volunteer coordinator will gladly answer them. We believe you will enjoy your volunteer work and your fellow volunteers here. We also believe you will find that Volnepal is a good place to volunteer. We ask that you read this handbook carefully, and refer to it whenever questions arise.
As always, if you enjoy your experience with us, please refer others to our volunteer program. It is truly thanks to your support that we are able to succeed.

Why we need volunteers? Our partner schools, orphanages, hospitals and restoration projects are all locally staffed. This leaves the students, families, and individuals in need with very limited exposure to the world outside of Nepal, thus their worldview is restricted. With volunteers from foreign countries, they get a chance to enlarge their view of the world. Direct interaction helps studies to become more interesting. Also, most of the students are weak in English conversation. English is now the #1 international language and a common means of business communication. |

I'VE NEVER TAUGHT BEFORE...This has not stopped many volunteers before you! The internet is an invaluable resource for us to develop lesson plans and activities. Rest assured the children here are wonderful, motivated and ready to help you teach. So Relax, and do your best. |
9. |
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?There is always more to do. We can always develop more activities such as field trips and sing -a-longs and so forth. |
10. |
What language requirements do I need to fulfill? This depends on the sector you wish to volunteer in. It would be preferable that you speak English proficiently. If you are in rural areas, it is an advantage to know basic Nepali. |
11. |
What kind of volunteer work is available? You can volunteer in any of the following sectors: Teaching English, Childcare, Orphanages, Disabilities, Health & Medical Centers, Human Rights, Youth/Women's Organizations, Environmental Care, or whatever you are looking for! |
12. |
What type of accommodation do I get? Who is responsible for it?This varies depending on the location of your referral. If you volunteer in rural areas then you will have basic arrangements with home stay. Normally our program is in a semi urban area so you will get accommodations with a Nepali family. But you will be in contact with our volunteer coordinator or placement representative 24/7 days. |

How can I help Volnepal? For many of us a trip to Nepal may be impossible due to work, family, etc but the desire to help remains. There is still a way for you to participate with Volnepal. We encourage you to not only visit the link below to make a donation online. But also to organize fund raising events in the community. This could be anything from a bake sale to a tea party with friends. We encourage you to get involved! This will not only help us raise funds for those in need but also help to spread awareness through your community.
